The Objective
- Create a journey for learners to deepen their connection to and understanding of the “Larger Than Memory” exhibition, which could be done at home (due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
- Serve as a tool for educators in grades K-8.
The Plan
- Collaborate with the design, education, and curatorial teams to create activities that guide learners toward understanding the themes of the exhibition.
- Have learners participate in these activities at home with the intention of deepening their connection with the exhibition.
The Outcome
- Larger Than Memory named Best Art Exhibit in Phoenix New Times’ Best of Phoenix 2020.
- The guide accomplished it’s goals with families and educators.
- One of the artists said that his mom shared it with her students and they enjoyed it.
- It proved to be an effective way to build community during a difficult time.
